| Caldew School opened in September 1959 and over the last 50 years our pupils, past and present have earned a enviable reputation throughout Cumbria for the quality of their work, their self confidence and strength of purpose. |

| The school caters for 1000 pupils aged 11-18 years and we offer a wide range of courses to match pupils diverse strengths and interests. This is supported by our Personal Tutors who strive to give good guidance and support to each pupil. |

| A wide range of extra curricular activities are on offer including sport, music, drama and Young Enterprise and activities outside school play a very important part in the culture of our school. We encourage a planned programme of trips and visits which bring a sense of reality to learning in the classroom. |
